About

About

Cade Russo-Young, born in 1980, is a proud native New Yorker and a second-generation LGBTQ+ trailblazer. Raised by her pioneering lesbian moms, Cade grew up in a household that broke boundaries and redefined what family could look like. Her younger sister, Ry Russo-Young, later captured their family’s groundbreaking story in the HBO docuseries Nuclear Family—a must-watch for anyone curious about love, resilience, and the occasional courtroom drama.

A Smith College graduate, Cade majored in Women’s Studies with a focus on women’s health. She kicked off her career in HIV prevention and education, channeling her passion for advocacy into tangible change. After a few years, she swapped health campaigns for storytelling, writing for GO NYC Magazine, and eventually found her groove in real estate, where she’s thrived for nearly 20 years.

Life got even more exciting in 2015 when Cade met her future spouse. They tied the knot in 2016 and became parents in 2019—welcoming their daughter into a home full of love, humor, and plenty of pride (and pancakes).

These days, Cade pours her heart into memoir essays, sharing her unique journey through queer community life in magazines, books, and podcasts. Whether she's writing, speaking, or just being her authentic self, Cade’s work celebrates resilience, love, and the importance of building a more inclusive world. She continues to honor the legacy of her moms while blazing her own trail as a mother, wife, writer, and advocate.
